On July 10th, Dr. Lee Jae, the chief researcher of the structural research field at POSCO 's steel Solutions Research Institute, introduced POsco' s steel building solution based on life cycle assessment (LCA) at the 2025 Life Cycle Assessment and Industrial Chain Collaborative Innovation Development Conference, which attracted the attention of experts and scholars present.

We work hand in hand with architects, engineers, contractors and end users to provide one-stop comprehensive solutions from design, installation to maintenance. Through integrated optimization methods, we cover every stage of the building's entire life cycle. Lee jae-焌 introduced that POSCO 's steel building solution based on LCA covers three core carbon reduction strategies. One is Material Substitution, that is, replacing aluminum with steel, which significantly reduces embodied carbon emissions. The second is energy-saving Systems, which develop building components that can reduce the Energy consumption of building operations. The third is Digital Twin Design, which can calculate and optimize carbon emission data before the construction of a building project begins.

In the life cycle assessment of buildings, the extraction, processing of raw materials and the manufacturing of building components are very important carbon reduction links. The on-site assembly and installation process will also consume a large amount of resources and energy. Meanwhile, the process of transporting materials to the project construction site is the most easily overlooked aspect of carbon reduction. Carbon reduction in all processes deserves attention.
